ABOUT

ABOUT

We love it here in the beauty and tranquility of the  French Pyrenees and you will too....

Maison Jeanne is a tastefully renovated  traditional stone mountain house, which dates back as far as the 16th century. This picturesque Bed & Breakfast  only 8 km from Luchon, in the quaint mountain village of St Paul d’Oeuil, nestles in the breathtakingly beautiful Vallee d'Oeuil  where red deer can be heard wandering in the forest and hills above.

If you enjoy your home comforts as well as loving the great outdoors,  Maison Jeanne is definitely the accommodation for you. You will find crackling wood burners, rustic character with honey coloured wooden interiors and spacious rooms with comfortable beds, crisp white linen and cosy duvets.

A hearty warm breakfast of local ingredients is served in the garden in the summer or in the cosy guest lounge in the winter, where you will also find an honesty bar with local French wines and a selection of board games and books about the area.

With fabulous hiking, cycling and ski touring right from the front gate, Maison Jeanne is the ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts to discover the hidden delights of the Pyrenees all year around.

Maison Jeanne is also the perfect spot to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house is surrounded by an idyllic country garden, ideal for relaxing whilst enjoying the stunning mountain views and abundance of wildlife.

Located at 1080 metres in altitude and eight km from Bagneres de Luchon, the largest and most fashionable of the Pyrenean spa towns, there is much to discover around Maison Jeanne including the family friendly ski resorts of Peyragudes, Superbagneres and  Bourg d'Oeuil, as well as the famous Cols of the Tour de France.

SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO

Hiking

From gentle valley walks to exploring 3000m summits, the unspoilt nature of the mountains and the lack of crowds give a real sense of escape to the Pyrenees. Many walks begin right from the front gate of the house......

Skiing

With several excellent ski resorts within easy reach of the house including Peyragudes, Superbagneres and  Bourg d'Oeuil, you will be spoilt for a choice of  exciting pistes to

try out...

Road cycling

Whether you choose challenging Tour de France climbs or more leisurely routes, there's something for every fitness level, but you'll always be accompanied by a stunning Pyrenees mountain backdrop

Mountain biking

From wooded downhill trails to long mountain descents, the Pyrenees offers mountain bikers a huge choice. For advanced mountain bikers there are long fast descents from the top of Superbagneres, accessed via the gondola lift from the centre of Bagneres de Luchon, where there are several specialist  shops to hire mountain bikes.

Cultural sights

Visit the delightful medieval hill-top village of St-Bertrand-de-Comminges. Best described as a land locked Mont St Michel, the village is dwarfed beneath the imposing Sainte-Marie Cathedral and has many old houses, sloping alleyways, museums, bars, restaurants and craft shops that add considerably to its charm.

Relax in the nearby spa towns

The Pyrenees is the perfect destination to unwind, de-stress and get back to nature. Maison Jeanne is an oasis of calm to relax in. You can arrange to be pampered whilst lounging in the natural pools and thermal spas of the numerous spa resorts including Bagneres de Luchon, Balnea Spa in Loudenvielle and  the Thermes at Les.

GUEST REVIEW

"Idyllic rustic retreat"

We had a wonderful stay in this most homely of rustic retreats where attention to detail really stands out, from the handmade wooden room signs to good quality bed linen. With such great accommodation and fantastic hiking on the doorstep you couldn't ask for more. We'll definitely be back for another stay.
